When learning meditation, there are actually three principles people have to remember. Keeping these principles in mind would certainly increase the chances of you mastering the discipline.

Meditation requires a lot of discipline from anyone who wants to try it out. Sitting still, letting go of one’s thoughts, and being silent are the essentials.

Yes, meditation requires the person to sit still and be silent for the whole of a session. Pretty easy, right? In fact, you just might be thinking that any person can do this. However, this is not as easy as it may seem.

Believe it or not, our minds can be much undisciplined. Fleeting thoughts come from just about any direction, and they seem to be virtually uncontrollable. Here is where the importance of learning meditation sets in.

1) Posture

This is very important when you are learning meditation. Keeping your spine as straight as possible is one of the keys to proper relaxation. When the spine is kept straight, there will be significant improvement when it comes to the circulation of blood. With proper circulation, you would become more alert than ever!

2) Breathing

The key concept here is to take slow and even breaths. Your diaphragm has to be used when taking these breaths. This process may take a little while to learn for most people. However, once you get the hang of it, learning meditation would definitely be much easier. You would even find that you are able to relax faster.

3) Attitude

Positive attitude is needed in learning meditation. This positive attitude is especially needed in the process of learning to clear your mind of straying thoughts. You might find it a little difficult when clearing your thoughts. When you find yourself slipping, you need that positive attitude to get right back on track.

Getting the Best from Guided Meditation

Meditation is viewed by a lot of people to be an easy process. This is because a lot of people think all that it takes for people to meditate is to keep his or her silence and to rid himself or herself of thoughts that would disrupt the whole process. How hard can it be to stay silent and think of nothing for around 15 to 30 minutes, right?

The answer to this question is: VERY HARD!

Yes, it is actually very hard for a person to clear his or her mind of thoughts. This is because without the proper discipline and concentration, you would find it very difficult to control the flow of thoughts inside your very mind.

Here lies the importance of guided meditation. Simply put, guided meditation is exactly what it is termed. There are indeed some times when people would need the outside force of a guide, to go through the whole process of meditation effectively.

And this is the role of the guide in guided meditation. But this is not just the only role that the guide would play.

In guided meditation, the guide would actually be some sort of therapist or counselor. There is such a large variety of reasons as to why people turn to meditation.

Some people meditate to gain more focus on their careers and home lives. Others take up meditation to gain more self-esteem and confidence. There are even some who turn to meditation to control physical and emotional pain, as well as overcome their fears and phobias!

Whatever your reason may be, you should share them with your guide. For in guided meditation, your guide will actually determine the right way for you to meditate, so as to achieve your goals. Thus, disclosure of your desired outcomes of the discipline is very important here.

Knowing the background of your prospective guide for guided meditation is also a must. You have to know the techniques that are employed by your prospect. You will be working closely with this guide, so you also have to establish that sense of affinity with him or her. Doing research on your part would then be of much benefit for yourself.

Most importantly, do not rely solely on your guide. Discipline, concentration, and a whole lot of effort should come from you as well. Giving such can definitely help in the success of guided meditation.
